Just a quick up date on the last posting I made about my 1300 box not enjoying dropping down from 3rd to second. After stripping down the box I found that the split ring which is holding 3rd gear in its position had snapped in half, not good, the upshot of this was that I have had to spend £205.00 plus a lot of labour time rebuilding the box. Hopefully after a few stupid mistakes which caused me to have to strip back everything I had done, the box is going back into the car on Sunday, and all being well it should work.
I have to be honest though, I have had the help of my mate who works offshore on Stenna ships as a chief engineer, without his help I would have been stuffed !, don't try this unless you know your gearbox. I have taken photogarphs and will attempt to write an article on my experiences in the newsletter, assuming they wish to publish it.
