Hello
I am having a problem getting the gearbox out of 3rd and 4th, Its a 3 rail gear box and has given me no problems before. I can select all gears no problem
but requires a lot of force (two hands) to get back out of the top two gears.
The problem only started this morning.
Any ideas?

The problem only seems to be in 3rd, the gear stick moves forward and backward depending on acceleration or deceleration, but only in 3rd.
If i can change gear while the gear stick is forward (accelerating), i can get it out of gear with out to much problem.

Hmmm
I may be wrong on this, but I believe that there is a circlip which holds the third gear cluster together. This can drop out when the box wears,
and may give the symptoms you describe....
Maybe.......

Phil, you are quite correct, these circlips split into two peices and cause third gear to move on the mainshaft.
When fitting a new circlip make sure it is fitted the right way around!

Well done Philip
I took the gearbox apart yesterday and the circlip was in three pieces.
New parts ordered and hope to be at Leatherhead on sunday.
Thanks
Alan
