Oulton was excellent despite my gently-gently plan of getting to the front being thwarted by the race being red flagged early and moments after I had
passed Simon so he won on the count back. Of particular note was when Clive, Simon and I were negotiating Druids corner in close formation each with an
unhealthy amount of twitchy slidiness. Sphincter tightening but great fun.
Am also eagerly awaiting news on the Silverstone Double Header, I know Nig talked to the MG Management at Oulton but not to a final conclusion as they were a bit busy on the day.

Yeah... not to mention someone who stuck it on (class) pole for the first time ever...
Radiator leak caused and overheat which ate my plugs...
the head has a small crack in the spark plug hole too - so I'm looking
to get it welded up. I've got a spare so should be okay for Silverstone.
I sopke with MGCC management (as you said) but couldn't confirm or deny anything as the reference materials they needs were at the office. Steve is currently on a weeks leave so I can't catch up with him until next week now.-

That may not allow a huge amount of time before the closing date (6th June). I guess we should enter the single header now and sort out later if it changes.
Anyone thinking about doing one of the endurance races? Also is anyone going to be testing on Friday?-

Once may be happenstance - Silverstone.
Twice is coincidence - Oulton.
Three times is enemy action - Silverstone again.
Do I get the feeling we are not welcome?
If so, how sad.

Twelve Triumphs already registered for the Swinging 60's series this year.
(Although I note that their race calandar also includes "Silvertstone International", and does not appear on the MG programme)

My tribe intend to descend on silverstone to support the triumphs and thumb our collective nose at the MGs, can anyone suggest a day and time to come and watch, and can we get into the pits too? Would love to offer moral support to you guys,

Calvin, You can always get into the pits and paddock, younger people (under 16) are technically not alloed in the pit lane itself though (although it doesn't stop most).
We'll let you know which day is best as soon as we fidn out which we are racing on... if it's one race then it's likely to be Sunday, if it's two races then it's likely to be Saturday (so you see qualifying AND the race).

As I remember, we had our own race at Silverstone One this year, but were bundled in with the Morgans at the last minute to make way for an enduro race that was announced at an even later minute. The enduro never happened 'due to lack of interest' and we all went home early.
Sorry if the 'enemy action' implied more - and the 'not welcome' - but hasn't this season been a trial for you and Jon, and a concern for everyone else, caused by MGCC?

So once the entry is sorted out one way or the other, who is going to Silverstone and are any of you tempted by the Saturday or Sunday Endurance Races?
I will be going and am considering the Saturday Enduro. Car is ready and itching for a full throttle run after the tentative Oulton round.

You are right and it has been a trail... the guys at the MGCC are decent enough, but the job there (competition secretary) seems something of a poison chalice this year.
My biggest worry is that you lot - the racers - make other plans while were floundering with the MGCC... there's not a lot we can do at the moment but we will have our races.
It's just worrying that grid numbers will be lower because of it and the champoinship will be at risk again because of that... oh hum..
We need your support, how many of you want to do the double header races? (@ &163;275)-

Travel costs are a BIG part of my racing so the more races for less towing the better (especially as my truck just failed its MoT )

I'm up for the double header if you can sort it NiG. By my reckoning, &163;275 is a lot less than two seperate events too I'm also likely to be testing on the
Friday. The Saturday, 30 minute, all-comers race sounds interesting, I'm thinking about that one as well although
that's a lot of racing (and cost) in one weekend if we also get the two championship races.

As with the Oulton race I have a written confirmation from the MGCC stating the position, it clearly shows that for Silverstone we would have two races. Nig and I intend to do our best to make them step up that obligation! They seem to think they can make an agreement then renege on it at will...not very happy at all especially as I know you guys have plenty of opportunities to race elsewhere and we could well do without all this uncertainty.
On another note, I have now moved house and am trying to get my GT6 ready for Silverstone!-

Now I am confused.
Jon says that we were promised two races, the MGCC are gving back word, but he's going to make them keep to their promise.
Nigel says, how about a double header? That's the MG Trophy Championship or the Equipe GTS races - are we eligable for those?
And Mik's talking about the Enduros.
Like that confused.com advert - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
If I enter one of these, I'd like not to be the only Triumph in the race.
Only a few days left before closing date - 6th June - so a rapid solution is required.
I agree with the above; a double header more than doubles the enjoyment and halves the expence (sort of), but can we muscle into the MG's own championship or mix it with the Equipes? We have a race on Sunday, No.11,with the Morgans, so shall we nominate one of the Saturday Enduros as a race in our Championship, or failing that, the one we all race in? Chosing one at random, No.8?
Race 11 plus Race 8 would be more expensive than the MG Trophy double header, &163;375 against &163;275, but as the latter is a half hour race this pair gets 150% more track time than the MG trophy so is a better bargain!

Isint it amazing how people can still remain pleasent whilst stabbing you in the back the only problem is that no body in the MGCC has got the balls to tell us to sling our hook.I have never had any body who was crossing me tell me what they were doing and i would be intrested to be a fly on wall in the competitions department whilst they have been discussing giving us our second race.
Its simple economics next year say goodbye to the TR REGISTER TSSC RACE CHAMPIONSHIP say hello the lotus on track race championship and Equipe gts from what ive seen this year the MGCC own championships are struggling (Metros for example) the MGCC will not be able to afford to support poorly supported championships like ours.
Im undecieded about Silverstone i really like the atmosphere and craick with our championship but im starting to feel that i should abstain from racing with MGCC.
If i was messed around and had deals reneaged in the same manner as the MGCC have done with us this year by a supplier at work ,i would kick them in to touch pure and simple why should this be any different.
So if the car survives Anglesey this weekend i might be at Silverstone or i might be at Mallory

Ian, as always you make some good points in a straightforward manner, I am also frustrated at the situation, whether it be a mass conspiracy or a comedy of errors.
However we should remember that by abstaining from racing with the MGCC you will also be abstaining from racing with the TR/TSSC (for 2007 anyway). And at the current time when we are looking to build on the championship, the loss of your (or any) TR/TSSC car will hurt the Triumphs more than the MGCC.
Good luck at Anglesey with the CSCC, please do a report on your exploits and the new track for here and/ or the Racing Triumphs Website

I understand that Stacky and Jon are going to Anglesey too Ian - so you won't be all on your own.
Jon and I are working hard on the MGCC to sort this mess out and it's quite frustrating to be honest... Were getting to the argument of "we can't make special exceptions becuase we've only got X entries" to which we counter, "We've only got X entries because our driver's don't know what's happening and are going elsewhere to race..."
There are offers and compromises on the table but I have no idea where we're going with them just yet... I hope to have a resolution for you soon.
To be honest, if Angelsey wasn't going to take 6 hours (each way) I'd probably give it a go too.-

The only event that weekend on the Trac Mon website is the Cheshire & Nantwich Motorcycle Clubs' bike races.
I've just given up trying to book Silverstone online and faxed it to Steve Carr with a complaint.

John the CSCC are racing at Anglesey this weekend me Jon W Stacky and kev Hadfield are in the Swinging Sixties race also Martin Adams and Mark Humphries are in the Future Classics race should be a good laugh albeit a very wet one.
NiG,Andy you are right and apoligies for my constant winging if i and other people disapear and race elsewhere it certainley isint going to help us as a championship so i propose we set up road blocks around Abingdon with our race cars a la fuel protests a few years ago.I also propse the burning of red octagons as a symbol of our protest

Yeah - the online booking system is a bit FUBAR at the moment.
As for Silverstone, Steve is part time at the MGCC so we (Jon and I) are having difficulty getting hold of him... so I suggest that all of us who are going enter the race that is listed (we may not actually be with the Morgans) so we can get the numbers in... hopefully a good response from us will 'encourage' the MGCC to treat us better.
I'll be getting my engine running this weekend and getting my entry in on Monday...-
