Motor racing news just in..............
Today Steve "Northern Ninja" Adams was twice the hero at premier northern race track Oulton Park.
Steve (41), a Geordie by birth entered his first Swinging Sixties race today and came out the hero against all the odds.
During qualifying Steve (top bloke) was pulled into the pits by officials after laying down a pall of smoke. Upon inspection this was found to be due to a
leaking gearbox and Steve was allowed to rejoin the qualifying session only to be black flagged a couple of laps later, ironically after a Camaro had
lunched its engine on the main straight and laid down a slick of oil.
Frantic work in the pits by the ever present Chris Solom (oft time mechanic), Martin Stackpoole (part time racer, part time mechanic) and Dave Thompson
(FBR Team mate) saw Steve ready for the race. On the grid Steve was caught napping and was overtaken by half the field before he came to his senses and
jammed the car into gear, scorching off the line in the tyre marks of his opponents only for the race to be red flagged after two laps. On the re-start
Steve was ready and he set off in pursuit of super racing legend Paul Lucas in his newly rebuilt Spitfire. Steve gamely tried to hang onto the tail of Paul
and pitted early. After a leisurely stroll around the car, Steve was belted in a rejoined the fray. Shortly after, Paul pitted and handed over to his
daughter Jackie (ex-Formula Woman competitor). Unluckily she stalled allowing Steve to make up precious seconds and as Jackie rejoined the track, Steve had
her in his sights. Lap after lap, Steve chased the orange flyer down until he finally managed to make an overtaking manoeuvre stick. With one lap to go,
Jackie had run out of time to fight back and Steve took the chequer first in class and third overall!! An heroic first result in this exciting race
series.
Later whilst watching a race, Steve witnessed a huge shunt directly in front of where he was standing. A car hit the barriers hard and the driver was
obviously dazed and struggling to release his harness and escape from the wreckage. As the rescue vehicle failed to stop and assist, our hero watched in
amazement as the driver finally freed himself from the twisted remains if his car only to collapse on the trackside. With no thought for his own safety and
no rescue team in evidence, Steve vaulted the fence and guided the confused driver to safety much to the relief of his family who were standing nearby.
Steve commented; "Eee wye ah divvunt naa wot aaal the fuss is aboot bonny lad. Canny day aaaal roond mind, gizza beor marra."
Earlier in the day Team Hadfield had suffered double bad luck as first Kevan's Herald and then Mark's Spitfire retired with engine trouble.

No problemo John, don't forget your torque wrench. I assume you've discussed our hourly rate &163;50 each whilst we drink beer
and talk macho racing bollards before we even get started on the job.
I note the photos are from Jonny KY himself, does this mean you've been lured back to racing and will be back on the track soon?

Been busy spending time (and money) on converting our garage into a dog grooming studio (or pooch parlour). Slackplod's seen it and
was actually Ulrika's first victim. He quite enjoyed it, especially the blow dryer. Also been extra busy at the Good Ship JY
Classics so racing, car preparation etc has been low priority. Getting close to finishing my own TR6 restoration too which is
nice...Blimey, the "not racing excuses" are flowing well, I'm on a roll...Anyroadup, I've put my hand up for the Birkett 6 hour
endurance at the 'Stone in October so all being well I'll be there. Better order that plumbed in extinguisher then...bah, humbug.
