I saw a certain red Spitfire racer heading up the M1 this afternoon on a trailer - I thought it was Mr Styles, then saw your comments re tyre wear so I
guess it was you!
How did you get on in the end?
To add to Jon's comments on testing at Bruntingthorpe - the surface is lousy with lots of gravel about on the concrete where the surface is degrading.
Never had any tyre wear problems but it is very good at grit blasting the paint off the lower 6 inches of your car!

Well..
We turned up, the chap on the gate gave us a radio and sent us off to a dispersal area with a board saying it was the pits..
There were 4 radicals and a Ginetta and I think the Radicals had finished any serious testing and were just doing "hot rides" basically..
The car went fine.. I plan to do a couple of the 2 driver, 40 minute races this year, and so my mate had his first go of the car. Which I think he
enjoyed immensely !!
Only problem was that my fog light fell off.. and so I need to fit a new one for Combe..
Also.. I stayed to about 6500 rpm on the main straight, as I couldn't see the point in keeping my foot down any more than that.
I won't say anything about getting lost on my first lap out... and driving into dispersal areas before realising that the "track" went the other way !
Not funny entering a dispersal area at a reasonable speed and going.. "oh... it stops... its just grass over there.. STOP!!"
or about asking my mate to get a drink out of the back and him almost jumping out of his seat before falling about laughing....
"JESUS.. THERE'S A SPITFIRE RIGHT UP YOUR BUM"
"yep... we're towing it !"
Was quite wet and slippy though.. which did let me see what it felt like to lock my wheels up under braking.. and to get a bit sideways here and
there.. so was a good shakedown.. and now..
I CAN'T WAIT FOR CASTLE COOMBE !!!
so see you there...

At least it kept me awake on the motorway ...
