A new season is almost upon us

OK guys it not long to go until the flag drops and the bull**** stops, 5 weeks to the first race and 3 weeks to the first hillclimb

So how are the race car rebuilds going? (or new builds), are you sitting smugly with a shiny car in the garage poised for a bit of tarmac melting , or do you have a multitude of battered cardboard boxes of rusty bits surrounding a bare frame and tub

My car is almost there, the engine is in and only needs an exhaust manifold before I can start it, brakes are all together but need new pads and fluid, suspension is on the verge of completion but needs adjustment to get all the wheels pointing in roughly the same direction. And somehow I need to get some miles on it to before racing so probably a trip to the rolling road is needed. Oh yeah, and the tow truck needs an MoT.

I should be ready for the first TSSC race at Silverstone, anybody else going to be out for the early points haul

  I will be at Silverstone, but if I have a racing car with me is another matter.... (or evne a van for that matter)
  
  All it needs is an engine, which i should have back in a couple of weeks... is that enough time to fit it and run it up?
  
  I haven't a full list of registrations yet so I can't let you know who your up against this year, but I am told the Regs are finally published and on their way out.

    Yeah, that "real work" thing is a right pain!
    
    I did however manage to drag the car out of the garage a couple of weeks ago and changed the oil. So that's 90% of my prep for this year done on the car then. The van's still broke though with not much chance of it getting properly fixed for a while. And the trailer needs attention too.
    
    I plan on being at the track day but lack of preparation time and funds will, I think, mean that I'm not racing at Silverstone for the first event. I'm hoping to be up and running in time for the next event at Castle Coombe though...somehow...I hope...

      Certainly not in the "smug club" yet . Fitted a wide radiator to try to cool things down a bit. I almost had to pull out of the restart at Brands as things were starting to seriously cook awaiting the off! Will be at Mallory and Silverstone .

        Just need to check that all the wheels are pointing in the same direction then ready to go, have just posted off the entry form for Silverstone.

          Hmm, I think I'm ok. The car has been mothballed, so hopefully it's in more or less the same state as it was when I, er, ducked out last year.
          
          Just need to double check everything and do some fluid transplants.
          
          If the budget stretches I might get some nice windows made, if not I'll stick with the net curtains, or perhaps bring the semi-opaque perspex ones back out of retirement.
          
          Oh, and I'm bolting in a passenger seat for the track day, but fingers crossed - that's it.
          
          Not sure if I'll be at Silverstone (haven't had an entry form yet for starters...) but you never know. I'm not sure it's my intent to do the full gamut of fixtures this year, but this policy is subject to change because I'm still painfully aware how addictive it will be once I'm back in the frey...

            Well, I now live in Yorkshire,..
            
            but, during those storms, I lost the roof off the barn where the race car was going to live ..
            
            so now, the car is in London in my mother in laws garage, and I'm in Yorkshire !!
            
            Its been started a few times in the close season and driven backwards and forwards six feet...
            
            an oil change, a quick track down of where the dripping water was coming from at Brands, and I'll be considering it ready..
            
            (I just need to check pads and oil things and stuff too)
            
            I can't make the first Silverstone, but plan to start with Coombe...

              Progress has been made!!
              
              Just had word that he van is fixed and healthy again, which is great news.
              Now I have a way of lugging mt engine-less car up and down the country again
              
              Fingers crossed for the engine to be fitted and fettled before the end of the month.... then it's party time

  I guess I have to sit in the smug camp at the moment. Car rebuild completed, diff, engine and gearbox rebuilt, dynoed, rolling roaded and completed a day testing at Silverstone 2 weeks ago. Showed up a few minor niggles but generally all seems OK. Round one Silverstone hear I come.
  
  Just heard from FBR team mate Steve Adams that he can't make round 1 so may enter the Peterborough MC meeting the week before to make up for it.
