For the last two years The TR Register/TSSC championship have run a Triumph Only trackday at Mallory around that time of year (May/April), but as yet I
don't know if they are doing it next year. I will be finding out this weekend.
The last ones they have done were around the 60-70 car mark and they needed to open it to all triumph clubs to make the numbers up.
Part of the issue with Elvington is they do not allow competition cars so any racers probably wouldn't be able to attend.

Hehe, I was at elvington in october, just spectating at one of the track days there...not much to crash into, though a honda S2000 showed exactly how to do about &163;1k's worth of damage to the paintwork and roll hoops by going through a wire fence backwards... bit dodgy as if the roll hoops weren't there, you can imagine the consequences! There were racers there this time (javelin organised event though), infact I wouldnt have wanted to go round there in my car at the time, I dont think a single car was sub 2 litre and most were seriously modified!
I'd be very much up for a Triumph only trackday though!

Ben, All,
I don't think you would need to feel out-classed in your Triumph at such a track day.
I took the SilverBack to Elvington before Brands, to see if it was setup correctly. It performed rather better than it did down south - proper tyke this one.
In fact it was funny, because when I drew into the paddock, full of Subarus, Hondas, hot Pugs, even an ex-BTCC Mondeo, I could see lips curling at this ancient piece of rubbish. After the first session, I had a queue of visitors, asking me about the car and being complimentary (purr, purr) about its performance. (It really was behaving differently to Brands!). No, I wasn't the fastest thing there, but well able to keep up with the leaders and as fast as most. As you will see in Triumph racing, Spitfires and GT6s (and one day Vitesses) race on similar trerms, so 2 litres are not essential.
Triumph only track days cannot be more often than occasional. If you want some driving action, and can't/won't go racing, a track day can be the next best thing and you get a LOT more track time!

So Ben... why haven't we seen you at the previous triumph only track days then? In your super modded Herald (with caravan

Going by previous experience at the Mallory events the day starts of sessioned into 'newbies and novices', 'experienced' and then 'racers'. It's generally busiest after 10.00am up until lunch (20 minute sessions) and after lunch until about 3.00pm. After that, the format is usally changed to a couple of hours of open pitlane!!
As for safety, circuits or airfields are about as safe as each other, if you drive beyond your abilites you are probably going to damage something and hitting other vehicles is the biggest worry. The only drawback of airfields that I know of it the surface tends to be grittier than race circuits, therefore the most common damage would be stone chips from the car in front - I've heard a few stories about this - I think it's a lot to do with the upkeep of the surface itself.

Well you can count me in for that one, I've been toying with the idea of something similar up here at Croft.
however there doesn't seem to be enough like minded owners and Croft is just too expensive.
Mid April will be just enough time to get the engine sorted!

We know each other from Le Mans I have inca yellow 1500 with the slightly tuned engine.
Is there any chance you can find out the dates for the other track day you mentioned so I can endeavor not clash dates.
Currently I have ten or so people interested. A few more and we can have our own session
