As it was I who asked Adrian to post his pics of Barbon here, any one who wants to make patronising comments should make them to me.
Hillclimb isn't well represented on this motor SPORT forum, possibly because not many Triumphs take part. The race side is doing so well,
perhaps the allied disciplines will prosper with a bit of publicity, I thought. Any more sarky remarks and they will, to racing's loss.
Keith,
Were there any open wheelers there? Is there a 'T' in Triumph?
This was a Round of the MSA British Hillclimb Championship and these Gould, Pilbeam and Dallara hillclimbers use F3000 technology, with
Judd and Cosworth engines up to 4 litres. Anyone who thinks that their TR7V8 is a powerful beast should get as up close and personal as I
was last Saturday with these things.
4000ccs of engine bellowing in your ear as you hold a chock to the rear wheel, before it throws the chock backwards and itself forwards,
890 yards, uphill, two bends and a hairpin in less than 21 seconds! 160mph on the trap! This is no sport for handbaggers.
No, there wasn't a Chris Hill, Keith nor were there any Triumphs at this meeting. Sorry, I know too little about hillclimbing to know who
he is/was, but next month, the 'B' meeting on the 19th is likely to include one or two Triumphs, as that is the clubman's meeting, and
usually includes a road going class. I can't be there, as La Belle France calls, but I can recommend Barbon to anyone. More, it makes a
nice day out for 'er indoors, as Barbon is the prettiest motorsport venue I know - see the panorama I posted in a previous thread (

)
Happy and polite motorsport to you all!
