tyres: &163;70 each, I've been told. Bought my last set second hand (unused).
license: &163;41
Well, that and you'll need to do your ARDS and possibly some tuition to pass that (depending on your experience) that'll be at least another
&163;100
roll bar: &163;200 (rear hoop)
I would seriously consider a full cage - not compulsory, but there have been a lot of discussions recommending that it should be. My full cage was
about &163;400, but I don't really count safety as a cost. Sure, it's heavier - but I found my laptimes improved through increased confidence
(and marginally better handling) If you're only running a rear hoop you'll need steel doors too.
transponder thingy (is that compulsory?):?
That was about &163;100-200, IIRC. It is compulsory to race with the MGCC - which we do - a lot.
helmet: &163;100 to infinity. Get the best you can afford, you only get 1 head. Don't get a second hand one, you don't know what might have
happened to it.
suit: Again &163;100 to infinity. I would get nomex under garments as well. You'll also need gloves (&194;&163;20+) and consider a pair of
boots (&163;50+) Again, be wary of second hand gear.
fire extiguisher: Whatever you feel comfortable with, you can get a suitable handheld one for &163;40. I have a plumbed in one which cost about
&163;100.
registration: Yes, you have to be a member of the TSSC and the TR Register and then, I think register to race with the TRR which is about
&163;25 a year. So about &194;&163;80 in total.
average cost of race entry: Contentious issue ahoy! Donington this year was &163;190, but this was extraordinary. Usually races are about
&163;125-150. Be forewarned though, you'll love it so much you'll also end up in all the allcomers races which is another entry fee.
You'll also spend at least &163;50 in petrol getting there and back, &194;&163;25 on fuel for the race car, a tenner on food and a fiver on
photos from the photo man
So maybe about a grands worth of spending to go to get you on the grid? However, once you have all of this stuff you won't need to buy it again.
It's up to you how much you spend on things in the end, but beware there are many false economies in motor racing. My genius idea of cheap disposable
engines probably ended up costing a lot more over a season than spending a grand having a reliable engine professionally built.
Hope this helps rather than puts you off for life.

^-Like Nigel, I also have an amusing signature now. Those who were at the drivers meeting will remember how excited I was to be 'elected'
