Sorry about the red flag...
turned out that it WAS a mechanical failure... it was the nut holding the steering wheel.
(the old ones are the best).
Anyway, as you know I ended up facing the wrong way on the apex at druids, and the car wouldn't restart. The lack of restarting and the horrendous clunk
(bang) my diff made as it locked, as I went, really made me think that something had failed.
Hope you all had a good race, can't wait for next season...
cheers,
Dave.

David,
Glad it wasn't something more serious.
And no apology due to me - I had retired when the red flag went up. Mis-fire or no, I was up for finishing, but then that damned leak in the water
connection began to gush. As I would rather fry than boil to death, I came in.
Still, I seemed to be in good company. Several super stars came in before the finish with long faces. Maybe it was end of season, championship won
(Congrats Andy!) bravura.
I still hope to make Lydden. I have got to make something of the 2004 season, but the several problems that came up may take longer to deal with.
best wishes, and as usual thanks to all for advice and help.
John

Don't worry about it Dave... we'll all do one of those from time to time...
Anyway, I'll betcha John Thomason is your best mate now as he was well and truly in the gravel when the flag came out but under countback and the fact
that he didn't cause the red flag he was allowed to re-join the race and then went on to win the class

This racing lark is great isn't it!!!
