Checking the car over after Silverstone, I discovered that the right rear wheel went "click-click" if I shoved on the top of it (very technical, I know!)
Anyway, I guessed that maybe the bearing had disintegrated so took the wheel off for further investigation. I discovered that the hub nut appeared to be
not much more than finger tight.
I've re-tightened it now but I know there has been discussion previously about this particular problem and whether it is caused by the nut working loose or
the shaft stretching (just prior to breaking). So, the question is, should I be worried? I'd rather keep all the wheels attached to the car for the
duration of the Cadwell Park meeting if possible!

mik, how many races/seasons have the ones that you have done?
remember John broke his at mallory pk and they had done just one season and they were the tougher "motorspotrt" ones
might be worth considering a new pair rather than rueing a few quid "saved" when it breaks...
reading some of theKas Kastner stuff, they were swapping teh 1/2shafts evrey few races to avoid breakages...
and you have got those sticky tyres

I would fit another shaft, at least until you can separate and inspect your current shaft. If you get a new shaft then I'd be delighted to help you
fit it Saturday night before Cadwell.
If yours is OK then you have a good spare for if you decide to move up to class c power.
Cheers

One time I was going through Hall Bends at Cadwell when the back-end (of the car) stepped out suddenly. I put on opposite lock and kept my
right foot down - then I noticed my right rear wheel overtaking me, about six foot in the air. After that things got a bit too exciting. Mik -
Make your own mind up about risking that shaft.

I wholeheartedly support the previous comments - Cadwell is definately not a track where you would want to be snapping a half shaft (come
to think of it is anywhere?). To prevent a lot of "I told you so" comments on Sunday, change the shaft. Steve and I will be there all day
Saturday if you need a hand or if Andy gets to it first I'm quite happy to sit and watch whilst handing out sagely advice and supping a
cold beer!

Yeah, you're all saying pretty much what I was thinking anyway. Thanks for the offers to help fit the new shaft. I don't currently have
a spare but I've already ordered one that should be here on Friday.

Yeah, sorry, I was being flippant in what is obviously a serious racing discussion.
So, are you worried that if you tug your shaft too hard it'll come off in your hand?
