Okay friends,
i reveal my stupidity here i am sure, but i have noticed Canley's supply a close ratio gear set/box. How is this going to improve the performance of my
Bond Equipe track day car? What are the benefits for it?
i always assumed that they were simply for speeding up the change of gears, but now me thinks me a bit wrongly.
Help.
cheers Calvin.

It err, makes the gear ratios closer
In a spit gear box the first and second gears are widly spaced so when changing up you could drop out of the optimum rev range. By closing up the
ratios the engine can be kept on the boil. Though you do lose out on the awesome pullaway that standard 1st can give you.
I out dragged a V8 Aston Martin along with 3 rows of the grid at Thruxton in standard 1st at one time. It was great for almost 30yards

With standard Spitfire ratios, I find the gap between 2nd and 3rd much more annoying, even on the road.
If you have ever driven a Vitesse or GT6, (or Dolomite 1850) you'll notice the difference; you don't have to rev the wotsits off the engine in
second before changing up, or if you do, you'll be going even faster when you engage 3rd.
Worth doing if you want better acceleration!

You could be right Chris with the gap being between 2nd and 3rd, its been a while since i used a standard box.
