I've got a pair of Princess 4 pots I was thinking of selling - also spaced for use with vented discs. In addition I've got a set of brand-new race pads
to suit.
(Also small-journal block, crank, rods, 4 alloy wheels with good A021Rs + more)
I'm open to offers!

Far too expensive for what looks like a dodgy pair, plus dunno about you guys but the mounting points on mine did not need welding up and re-drilling
just a couple of washers for spacing.

I was told (by someone who *should* know) that the rare princess four-pot caliper is exactly the same as the more easily obtained Jaguar XJ6 caliper. I've never studied either myself so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the statement.-

I know all this conversation about Princess 4 pot callipers went on some time ago, but can anyone out there help me on the same subject.
I was given (yes given) a set of these callipers by a friend who was upgrading the brakes on his TR8. I have had them refurbished at a place called Big Red, and have got a set of vented discs from Canley Classics. I am now about ready to fit the whole lot onto the car.
there are two threaded holes in each calliper (plus three bleed
nipples). Can I just blank off one of the holes in each calliper, or do I need to run another pipe from/to somewhere?
does anyone know where I can get the long split pins, the sprinkg
plates, and replacement pads. I don't need any of the above at the moment, but I will in the future, and it would be good to know now.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You definately have to have a link pipe unless they have been remachined for an internal fluid feed.
What car are you fitting them to???

You don't need a link pipe if you plumb the two halves (top and bottom) of the caliper into different circuits of a dual circuit braking system. This is how the calipers were designed to be used. If the facility is there why not use it?

Because if you have two braking systems, you may want to balance them, front to rear, not waste them both on the front.

These guys manufacture calipers from solid billet, there range includes the Princess caliper.

The price is very similar to Wilwood Calipers, so about &163;100 each, plus disks, and pads.....

I am fitting them to a 2.5ltr convertible GT6, so no dual circuit braking system, and as far as I know, the callipers are bog standard, so no remachining.
I gather from what you are all saying is that each 4 pot calliper is effectively a pair of independent 2 pot callipers, joined at the hip as it were. So feeding fluid into one of the holes moves the pair of opposing top pots, and feeding fluid into the other hole moves the pair of opposing bottom pots.
If that is the case, I can work it out for myself from here. If not, can someone please explain it in words that stupid person will understand!

I *think* its more like each side caliper pushes its two pistons (top and bottom) and you have to external link the two halves.
I wouldn't bet on that though, because although they are fitted to my car.. I haven't looked that closely at them, other than to confirm they have a link pipe,.. and that the pads are ok.. (I have yet to fit new pads)
there are so many holes on them you have to make sure you connect up the right ones with the link pipe.
I would give you a definitive answer, but my car is currently 250 miles away in a garage.. while I am at home..
(its a loooong story)

When on a Princess it is top and bottom pistons are on separate circuits.
i.e. 2 hoses to it.
When on a spitfire it is linked externally if on a single circuit.
