I appear to be co-driving in a rally next year (details to follow) in a bit of a hybrid 1969 Mk1 2.5pi saloon. It needs class A license and all the safety
stuff, etc. I'm trying to find out specifications for an FIA approved roll cage, and wondered if one of you fine people would have any inkling. I can't
seem to find anything much on the wibbly wobbly web. Safety Devices ... muchos muchos
cheers

Graham,
Hope this is not obvious to you already. If you look in your copy of the MSA 'Blue Book' (Yearbook), in the Safety section (Q?), it gives a lot of
detail about the size, thickness and quality of roll cage tubing, advice on the standard of welding required and stick diagrams for approved layouts of
roll cages. I don't know how close these national standards are to FIA standards, but for safety there should be no difference.
Hope that helps,
John

Thanks John, this wasn't too obvious, as I haven't received the book yet. I was jumping the gun a bit. Thanks, i'll check it out as soon as it
arrives.

If you need an FIA approved roll cage, you either need to buy an already certificated one and fit it exactly as per the manufacturer's spec.,
or if you make one (or in any way modify a stock FIA one) you'll need to have an FIA inspection on the cage to have it certificated. This can
be done via the MSA. If you have a company such as Roll Centre build and fit a cage for you - and you want FIA approval - they will have to
submit it to the FIA for inspection to get a certificate on it.
