Sounds interesting, but what's this?
"...a private tour to Greece mainly for Triumph TRs "
Well, excuse my dust!
Has the "Triumph Sports Club of Greece" never heard of the TSSC?
Or its' sister club, CT, that is pre-eminent in European touring?
In fact, I suspect that it is not our Greek colleagues who are so forgetful, and whose website (
http://www.triumph-club.gr/defaultGB.htm) is so devoid of any mention of this event that I wonder if
they know about it?
No, it is the management of Classic Car Tours (see:
http://www.classiccartoursinternational.co.uk/) who have latched onto this as a commercial
venture, and not done their homework.

Triumph Sports Club of Greece has indeed heard of us and Nassos is a TSSC Club member, or was I believe. He is also a member of Club Triumph.
You may recall that the Greek Club invited any Triumph owners to join their Club at the Historic Acropolis Rally and arranged ferries and
accommodation very cheaply indeed; there were no takers from this club or Club Triumph. A recent post to this board invited TSSC members to
once again join the Greek Triumph club to join them for this event. Moreover, the Greek club has supported events like Duxford and Stoneleigh
in this country in the past as well!
European Tours are not the domain of any one club, I'm a bit surprised at the reaction to this??

Many years ago, I helped a Greek gentleman, (name I cannot recall), set-up TSSC Greece, following, I think, a visit to Stafford with his
Greek registered Spitfire...
I did not hear much of anything from him after that, save for the odd Christmas card.
I heard rumors of various events taking place in Greece, but never heard any more, perhaps his English is not good enough, or perhaps he is
just too busy working?
Anyhow, that's how it was when I left the UK, 5 years ago.
Maybe Phillip Wilcox knows more?

Don,
As I pointed out in my second paragraph, I did not, and do not think that our Greek colleagues have forgotten us.
Rather, Classic Car Tours have, belatedly, realised the mistake of only seeking TR entrants.
Should we be surprised to be forgotten? Sad to say, no.
And domain is not the question, but history. The TSSC has never organised European Tours. Club Triumph has.
The Spitfire Aces seriously considered the Acropolis Rally, but it demanded FIA Historic authenticity, which none of our cars gets
anywhere near.
And we are extended as far as we can with European racing in 2007, so thanks, but no thanks.

addionally, the spitfire aces proposed a trans-alpine trip earlier this year, but "prior inception" was claimed by other
individuals, at which point specifically I gave way to their position.
I now watch with interest to see how the trip goes (if it actually ever goes...)
Gentlemen...?

Hi Leon,
Yes TSC Greece is alive and well, our contact there is Nikolas Lekakis, President.

Nassos Sarris, General Secretary TSCG, often comes to the UK for Triumph shows and speaks very good English. He has been publicising
the Athens Rally for some time and when I get the time and money I would love to go over and take part.
Don Cook and I had a chat with him about the rally when he came to Duxford. I think Nassos may be at the International this year so
anyone else interested can quiz him about it too.

This tour is organised by TR Register with what looks like Classic Car Tours, if so it's a sure combination for a great trip.

I've just found the full thread to this, and just to make things very clear. This tour has been organised by me alone. It is not connected with
anyone else whatsoever and certainly NOT a commercial venture and NOT connected with classiccarsinternational. You have just made this up. The
idea started over a year ago with a few friends, and since I also know the Greek club and my wife is Greek. The idea was born. It is not
connected with any commercial enterprise at all. At the time of designing the tour - I was and still am a member of the TR register - so to
simply make a pleasent logo for the trip - it shows the TR register and the Triumph Club of Greece. The tour has been made to accomadate
classic cars, by way of the route and mix of motorways and normal roads. The hotels have been chosen carefully for safe overnight
parking/security etc, The phrase 'mainly for TR's ' is simply to support the design of the tour and it was written at a time when it was only
being promoted to the TR register for fear of too many cars wanting to come and then having to re-design and re-organise the whole trip. We
even still have some MR2's considering to go. The whole spirit behind the tour is for a holiday, fun and too enjoy their cars. No matter what
they are. If you read the web site properly it is pretty easy to understand instead of jumping to silly conclusions. A lot of work has gone
into this trip and at my own cost. Yes I have just promoted the tour to the TSSC, because there are now some spare places and it would be nice
for other triumphs to joins us. As I have mentioned they are more than welcome. I'm very dissapointed at this reaction and now regret having
put it forward. I think you are spoiling it for anyone else that might be interested.

Hello guys,
My name is Nassos Sarris and I am the General Secretary of TSCG. I will try to make some things clear:
1. TSCG (Triumph Sports Club Greece) was founded in 1994 by some Triumph enthusiasts from our country. It is the only Tiumph club in Greece
open to every Triumph owner or friend. Nick Lekakis is one of the founder's along with some other guys.
2. Clubs in Greece are non-profit organizations and their main interests are to organize events and help the enthusiasts to keep their
beloved cars on the road.
3. I used to be a TSSC member even before owning a Triumph. Recently I decided that I would love to join again the club. It is important to
mention that there are many other of our members that they are also members of the TSSC. (if you have access on the members' records of the
TSSC, you will be able to see that this is true)
4. There are some works taking place on our web site. Soon we hope there will be a brand new web site uploaded. New layaout, new pages
etc... This is the reason that there is no reference to Bill's tour etc.
5. There were no other tours in Greece, have been organized from our club so far.
6. We would be glad to see any of our European friends driving down to Greece. In fact I have been offered to help any of you who would
like to entry any of the regularity rallies take place in our country. I have been offered also to arrange everything for you and entry the
Acropolis at a much lower cost that the one you are asking to pay to the organizers. i.e. you may enter the rally paying the fee as a TSCG
member and help you in booking some hotels on your own for the days before and after the rally. Everything else is included in the entry
fees (500 pounds for 3 night luxury hotels, meals, etc)
If you have any questions I am at your disposal, in order to clear any misuderstandings.
Best Regards,
Nassos Sarris

During the weekend 19th/20th May 2007, our club has organized a tour for our members.
We will leave Athens early in the morning (Sat 19th) and drive down to Porto Heli in order to meet William Bourne and his company.
We will spend the whole weekend with them, stay at the same hotel etc
I am sure that we will have a great time...
