Graham,
Not at all. Ten months? Not many people make it over for a week let alone that long, what will you find to do? As far as a driving license
goes I think an international one is fine, but remember to carry it on you whenever you drive as the law has recently changed and you're
now liable for an on the spot fine of $50 if you're pulled over without one. Hidden speed cameras are everywhere and spot breathalising is
prevalent, especially on weekends. Also, there's a lot (an awful lot) of wildlife on the roads at night, especially around dusk, so take
care. Apart from damaging your car, nobody wants to squash a wombat. Last time I was there the Wilderness Society Shop in Hobart were
selling ultrasonic whistles that you attach to the front of your car. Apparently they scare the devils/possums/wallabies/etc off before you
get to them. That also means you won't see them, which would be a shame. I'd be happy to answer any other questions, it helps alleviate the
homesickness.
Have fun.
Paul

I live in Melbourne, I'm a Pom who saw the light many years ago, but I brought a Vitesse back to us in 1974. Tassie well the west coast
and Cradle Mountain are bl dy wet, and at Mount Wellington outside Hobart it can snow in summer, but the north and east coasts are
suprising dry and the whole Island is very picturesque bit quaint like Britian.
We toured Tassie last year witha couple of English friends and enjoyed it. ( He has a Stag back in the UK)
There's the Sydney to Hobart race finish around the New Year and Targa Tassie late Autumn it's a classic and many entrants from all
around the world.
Also Tassie is very popular for Classic Car Club movement including TSOA VICT who tour regularily and many other British single marque
clubs.
Hope you enjoy your 10 months.
I forgot to ask are you spending your time at Port Arthur!
