Colin rest assured that you are not the only member suffering slow loading,
I get this in work, home, at clients premises all using different internet service providers.
I am unsure to what the problem is but I would suggest that its a bandwidth issue on tssc website hosters or cacheing issue.

It's not just you, I've noticed it as well. But - could it be that the internet in general is slow, possibly overloaded with the schools being on half
term?

I've not noticed any problems lately so I can only assume it's a bit random or, as Dan says, related to peak times.-

yes Ive found it slow and it often times out on me. But it works and bandwidth is expensive, so its understandable at peak times.

Is there some problem with the server 'replying' to posts?
I've just posted, and it took ages to come up, so I used the MSIE 'stop' button, then posted again.
When I got back to the web page, bioth posts were there, in full.
I have no idea what this implies, but just in case the symptoms help the diagnosis.......
And, yes, I've found long delays in getting to this site.
Contrast with getting to the TTN - semi-instant and that's in the USA.

Me too, Binman.
I thought that it might be my PC, my telephome line or me, but the same happens if I post from work:
Click on "Post followup" and it starts sending.
That little blue line at the bottom of the screen start to march across the box, and then stops. And moves again, very slightly. And stops. And again. And so on.......
Until you are tearing your hair out (this need not apply to you, Bin) for it to finish posting your message.
BUT IT HAS!
If I stop MS/IE at that point (button with red cross, at top) and then go to the thread, my message is there, in full. It looks as if the website doesn't send a signal back to say "Message received. Roger and out." Could that be true? Craig?

There is currently no mechanism for the TSSC message board to send a message back to stop multiple presses of the "post followup" button. The technology exists - my bank account logon pops up a box to tell me I've already pressed the "submit" button if I try and press it again, but whether is is easy for Craig to implement such a feature, I don't know.
For the time being, as Craig has pointed out on several occasions, the multiple posting problem is a malfunction of the thing between the chair and computer

If you get a message to say that the server has timed out, any normal person would assume there had been a problem, hit the back button, and then hit post again.
Is that a malfunction, or just frustration.
I would plump for the latter.

Thats how, its not hard, but like everything else, add it to the list. I'm sure hes not just sat doing nothing. I mean hes got to check the message board for spelling mistakes

I've just been to the TTN, Totally Triumph Net, over in Sunny SoCal, USofA.

I posted similarly there, and timed how long until the screen came up again.
Five seconds.
That's FIVE seconds, folks. One.......Two......Three.....Four......Five.....
Not thirty five and what's more that site is over 6000 miles away, not less than 600.
And Kevin, you misunderstand. I'm not expecting a 'you have pressed your button' reply. Most message boards, including this one, take some seconds while a message is uploaded and then sends another page with the message displayed, some alone, like this one, some in thread sequence. My times, both TSSC and TTN, are from pressing the 'send' button to new message display screen appearing.
What's more, your note that my message appeared much earlier that my timing would indicate was possible demonstrates this. The website waits a long time to reply, by sending the new message page, after it receives it. hence the frustration and double posting that has been happening recently.
Something is rotten in the state of TSSC website.

John, as regards the speed of loading of the TTN and TSSC.
Geographical position has a very small part in the speed of page loading.
What ever website you visit the connection time is measured in milliseconds, and on a basic level, a site in California could connect to you in not many more milliseconds than a site hosted in your next door neighbours house! As am sure you are aware the 'speed' of such data is as close to the Speed of light as you like (Fibre Optic cables, EM waves)
When delays occur, such as the TSSC loading slowly, its generally either
A) the server of the target site under high load/ experiencing difficulty
or
B) A high volume of traffic / routing problem somewhere along the route of your data's path.
As a side note, and too add a further twist to the talem, the TSSC may not be hosted in the UK! My own personal site is hosted in Phoenix, Arizona

Like you I think, my comments were a sort of tease and I sincerely hope that Craig did not take offence.
I hope that all our good wishes to him and his new family will help!
I do appreciate the points you make, and I posted them because I thought that such a slow response did indicate that there was a real problem, though I am quite incapable of suggesting a solution. However, Craig IS on the case - lets hope he doesn't get too many wakefull nights!

I too add my congratulations on the addition to the family - what Triumph is going to be his first car ?
Hadn't you start restoring soon so it's ready for his 17th birthday
I think you said where the problem was in the other thread - something to do with the email server that sends the messages to Yahoo for distribution after you post them.
If the temporary fix is turning off the yahoo message feed, then those of us that read the message board directly will see an immediate improvement, but at the expense of those that get the messages via email from Yahoo. Let's hope that a permenant solution that keeps the Yahoo feed working can be found, as I know of several people who rely on it at work to follow what is being posted, as many corporate firewalls block access to the TSSC website.
