The Club sells a model Spitfire with 'Police' ensignia and so on, and the Police Herald is authentic - or I hope so 'cos it adorns our 'Cop Shop' page.
No porkies there!
But did any police force ever use Spitfires, either as an experiment or as routine?

I know the police used E types on the newly opened motorways, but Spitfires? I do seem to recall an article about a wpc who had use of a marked
Spitfire tho'??

Don't know about a Spitfire, but have seen a picture of a police Vitesse 6? Saloon in Cornwall - can't recall where...
and back in late 1981, whilst in a TSSC Convoy we got pulled over for ? speeding? I think, by a White unmarked GT6-2 near Purley, Croydon,
Surrey...
Never heard of a Police Spitfire though.

Triumph World Aug/Sept 2006 issue 69 has on page 66 a picture of a "Mk1 GT6" reg no WTU 271E, this is corrected in the next issue as Mk3 Spitfire
with hardtop.

Well here's that Triumph World picture but that's not the picture I was thinking of! I recall that picture as two police women sat in a
Spitfire.
