What ever happened to the 1700 engine that the club were selling a couple of years back?
Me and a friend were trying to work out how they got 1700cc because there isn't room to bore out a 1500.
It must have been stroked, but surely that would rev very badly and self destruct rapidly, is this why it is no longer sold by the club?

1) how did they make the 1700 engine 1700cc?
2) whatever happened to it?

Come on guys, someone must have a bit of an idea what became of the 1700 club offered engine or is it too political to talk about?

does anyone have a hypothesis on how to turn a 1500 spit engine into a 1700?
does anyone think it's a good idea?

    Kipping's became Canley Classics and they have some of the components that can be used to make a 1600/1700 but I doubt they are for sale, Dave has plans I think it's a South African developed long throw crank and an overbore that gets you close to 1700 although the engines the Club used to sell were 1600. They were marketed as "Sport" engines but without attention to the oil supply I bet most are now shagged with a bearing spun. Talk to Kev Hadfield for practical advice on how to stop this or buy Kastner's second book (I don't have any more copies, see www.kaskaster.com ) OR you could try asking Dave at Canleys

        More info after a virtual chat - it wasn't Ivor Searle it was AMS who either went bust or did a runner or were abducted by aliens (I don't know for sure). It was an offset ground 1500 crank with TR6 pistons - my reference to S. African cranks is rubbish
        Ivor Searle does the Clubs engines now apparently.
