Healthy realism!

Ok, so my 77' Spit has had 21 former owners (a record?), most of later ones apparently intent on trashing the poor thing. Positively the first owner had the car Ziebarted (or however you spell it) so the doors etc are good. I have only had to replace virtually every thing else on the drivers side ie floor, A + B posts, rear inner and outer wings etc etc. Put in a recon 1500 engine to replace the 1300 engine, gearbox with o/d, recon diff, new springs.....hell, just about everything is new or recon. This has all been done over a few weeks last year and the quality of some of my work is iffy and some I'm chuffed with. I've made some stupid mistakes...don't use an angle grinder without covering the windscreen and dashboard for instance Spent well over any sane budget to buy Mig welder, compressor etc etc as well as the bits for the car.

My point is I still have a scruffy but now reliable 1500 that I shall re spray this week. I wanted to have a concours Spit that I could be proud of. What I have is a realistic reflection of the time and money I've spent on it plus buying the first car I saw (I know, I know)
BUT I have loved every minute of it! I have revisited my youth and have a brilliant bit of fun to play with on a nice day I'm saying all this cos' if you see me out and about in South Lincs don't look at the look at the quality of the car, look at the width of the drivers smile!
