Seen a Triumph out and about and wondered who they are?

While travelling from Edinburgh today I overtook a car badged as a Triumph Tiger. I have never heard of this car before, does anyone know anything about
it? I didn't get the registration number as I was too busy looking at the car itself and watching for traffic in the rush hour but I think it was a 60s car
and looked very much like a TR3 or 4

I had a conversation with a chap a while ago who was trying to convince me about a Triumph Tiger. I had also notheard these two words together outside
motorcycle circles and was sceptical
apparently a V8 engine was somewhere involved and a very few were apparently made
I thought the geezer was getting confused with sumbeam alpine tigers
praps i was wrong and shouldn't have scoffed so readily?

I wish now I'd slowed down in my euro box and taken the opportunity to take a closer look

I have to say this sounds like you've met "the bloke down the pub". Bear in mind that to most people, the Sunbeam Alpine and Tiger are little more
than distant memories, easily confused with better known marques like Triumph and MG. While I wouldn't be big-headed enough to claim that it
doesn't exoits simply because I've never heard of it, the idea of shoehorning a big V8 into the humble Sunbeam Alpine does sound rather too close
to what was described to you.
As a sanity check, I did a Google search using the keywords "Triumph", "Tiger" and "V8" - guess what I found?
CHeers,
Bill.

yes, it came as news to me, i haven't seen any other reference to it either, another mystery or just a red herring???
