Hi Guys, Gals and Fellow Students!

Starting the same old message thread I know, but there's gonna be a fair few students at Stafford this year, so it should be a really good show. Not sure about anyone else but i'm graduating this summer (eeek:-o), so its time to party<

).

May I suggest the 'noisy' campsite would be a good place to start, tho we'll tell Pod to keep his car stereo down this year! That should give everyone something to look forward to!

BTW dont bother filling your boot with beer and bbq's as Asda is only just down the road from the showground!

    OOh...student piss up eh? Count me in please!! I'm supposed to be writing my thesis about then....but I'm getting to Stafford no matter what my (usually irate) boss says!!

        My GT6 arrived on the back of a truck last year, good job it was dark when we got there. Actually it ended up on the back of another truck going home as well...and I'm not a student!
        
        Where and when are you all going to meet up then -Friday evening is good for meeting people.
        
        Young Carruthers can't go because he's not a student anymore (well, other than re-sits).

        Nice to see this threads come back from the dead again! I'll be pitching up at the 'Noisy' end (Through the gate turn right) on friday afternoon, then heading off to Asda in Stafford for Beer, Hoegaarden (for James) and something to throw on the BBQ!
        
        I'm sure we should be able to accommodate all you ex students out there too - the more the merrier! (pun intended - you're richer than we are!)

        Agreed, great weekend, really fun.. could have done with being a good deal warmer mind you...! Hope everyone had as good a time as I did, it was cool meeting a few new people and putting faces to names I already knew too.

        hey, think I've tracked down the culprits!! Were you the ones playing Stiff Little Fingers? Haven't heard them in years ...I'll get some requests in early next year! Woke up to the sound of some modern type car (thought you lot had better taste) being driven round the site on a flat tyre ....the remnants of a thoroughly good night obviously!

        ahhh, that would have been the people opposite us. Not sure where they were from but there was a minibus from manchester. I did see them changing a tyre too.

        Question is - how do we chill it? Who's got a portable fridge? Or else do we need to do some sort of Ray-Mears hole in the ground contraption?

        Easy answer to that one... aquire a 12 to 240 volt inverter like I have access to... as long as it's below a certain (I forget right now) wattage Robert's your father's brother
        
        You can use any car fitted with a cigarette lighter (sorry, in these PC days, auxillary 12v supply) and you're away.
        
        Hmmm, that means most of our cars... anyone with a late 1500 Spit?

        Hmm..in the interest of being-nice-to-the-shiny-Triumphs, you can plug yer fridge into my tatty Astra if you like, just don't knacker the battery, as I *will* at some point have to get home.

        Surely someone has one of those mini fridges which the supermarkets were knocking out last year which hold about 12 cans... or we could just do the non-technology option of a big bucket of cold water!

        LOL nice one Ally! - i'm glad to see someone keeps their eye on the ball around here! Yup - i'll bring it to stafford with a 12V battery, should be able to minch the one out of mums car (shhhhhhh!).
        
        Ian, which way will you be going - If you come along the A47 - A1 - A606 i.e. Peterborough, Stamford, Melton, Uttoxeter route, i'll be doing the same, we could meet and start a convoy? I usually see a few cars go past my house at the start of the stafford weekend as its 'en route' for a lot of norfolk and suffolk people!

        Alternatively, you could avoid all this hastle by drinking real beer, which should be warm anyway . A further advantage is that it often tastes somewhat nicer too... (that should probably be rephrased as 'it actually tastes of something')
        
        Still, I suppose that I wont be invited to join in this fun as i officially ceased to be a student last week

        I have to admit to appreciating both types of beer, so i'll sit on the fence on this one! Of course - everyones welcome, ex students and all! I'm technically now an ex student - I've finished my exams and i'm now ?eagerly? awaiting my results!

        We are gonna have to engineer some way of finding each other when we get there, or there'll be no student party just a load of confused looking people wandering round!
        Any ideas?
        I can find JC easily enough, so failing anything else look for a red Mk 3 spit and a grey Astra parked together...

        Easy one... we just look out for the cars - we all read up on each others profiles dont we????? Spotting James will be pretty easy - just look for the hybrid MKIII (shhhhhh!) and the Hoegaarden! I'll probs be wondering why my tent smells lovely after I put it away wet last year at the lake district!

        I was a student once 27 years ago was paid to attend college &163;7.29 weeks wages . 7 nights in the pub for 2&163; now that was value for money and i got a motor cycle on hp out of that 7.29 . Still wonder how i did so mutch with so little compared with today

        I'll be wearing my bottle opener. I daresay I'll be camping with the Essex crowd again although I haven't been to Club Night for some months now!
        
        I have a collection of some 15 Hoegaarten glasses, of varying types; pronounced "HooHarten" I believe. The Hogs Head in Stafford served it but last year I was deeply distressed when they said they had stopped it some months previously!!
        
        So the question is where in Stafford sells Hoegaarten?

        Hey..my Astra is very reliable..it reliably drops its back box off, and makes odd squealing noises from the wheel bearings!
        But it was a free car so who am I to complain - why oh why couldnt Grandad have driven a Triumph and given me that instead!!

        Hugh, don't joke about that it happened to me! Dark night on the M40 heading from Sussex to Lancaster... Suddenly there was a massive vabration and I thought my wheel bearing had gone(it was loose) . Anyway, I phoned the FJ rescue and they came and had a look and... my wheel nuts were loose and one had come off, D'oh
        To cut a long story short, I got a piggy back to uni, saving wear and tear as well as petrol... And my Spit is maintaining it's 100% reliability record, despite being driven everyday in the sh*ttiest weather!
        So, if you feeling poor and want to save some fuel, call the AA ( only joking...)

Begs the question, will the students be able to keep up with those of us who have 17 years post-graduation partying experience? I remember the bunch of 18-20 year old Mini owners at the first Wroughton Nostalgia Show - the lightweights went to bed at 1:00am after we suggested putting one of their cars on the hangar roof..........

  One of the guys I went to 6th form with had a mini, and there were 2 trees next to the car park that we discovered were almost exactly mini-length apart.
  
  Only took 4 of us to pick up his car and put it between the trees.

        Though not literally - that would be scary...

Does this include sort of "ex" students ie long graduated but still a studie at heart? 1984 was a long time ago but I still pore over the odd photo after a few nostalgic jars... didn't have a Triumph in those days in fact couldn't afford any car at all..!! Count me in if there's wine women and.. more wine and more women..
