Hiya!

I've had a thought...seeing as there seem to be so many of us student triumph-ers, why don't we all meet up sometime? The location would be the tricky bit, where do you put a bunch of students (probably drunk) and classic cars for a weekend?
Any suggestions? I'm happy to organise it if people are interested.

Where they serve pints of Stromberg (nothing else quite hits the marque) or pints of Spitfire...

    I seem to recall your face dropping, in Chelmsford, when you said "Aw, they've called last orders?" and the truth was "No they haven't". I think I was wiping the inside of my glass with my finger at the time. About a tenner for that round if I'm correct (only 3 pints). We know how to charge in the South - but then we can afford it!

        Blimey I've had quite a response here! Where do I start...
        Probably won't be until the summer now as the weather's a bit naff for open-top motoring in the winter! Location still not confirmed, I'll have to try and get some kind of geographical locations for everyone and take it from there. Also what would you all like to do? To save cluttering up the board how about emailing me stuff on SpitfireAlly@hotmail.com and I'll see what I can do.
        Hmm...non-students can come too I guess, didnt think you'd all get so excited about it!!

        Chemistry...lots of messing about in a lab making stuff...reports/presentations to do but no exams! Have to mark the undergrads' lab work though-thats a right pain!!

        Yeah I do, I live in docklands so getting a garage is somewhat easier (saying that I still am waiting for mine, 2 weeks now but things seem to be on the move today, so maybe this week

        Stafford is an institution in it's own right. Why not have a message board meeting? A GIG (Great Internet Gathering) could be arranged. Stafford is for the cars and the club, and long may it remain so. A GIG is for the people who post on the message board getting together for a few beverages and having a good time rather than the emphasis being on the club!

        The TR Register equivalent message board allows you to show your picture with every post. However some participants just use this to show the flashiest animated gif they can find. Some less photogenic particpants may use the chatroom techniques and post a picture of who they want to look like.

I think that's a fantastic idea! I would be more than willing to help in organising such an event if it should go ahead.

As to what we do and where we go... we seem to all be North of London (or there abouts) and South of Durham (I'm conveniently in Nottingham, slap bang in the middle!)

Being a studenty type event, whatever we do ideally shouldn't cost too much. I'm one of these crazy outdoor types, so I would be up for a bit of camping, maybe in the Peak District somewhere - there are some lovely drives around there, over the reservoirs and the like. Of course, that would probably have to wait till the summer.
It's just a (first) thought though; anyone got any more sensible suggestions?!?

  If you're thinking of organising it sometime soon (ie, before the summer), I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. I'm already booked on holidays over New Year and Easter.

Can ex-students be allowed too? I was too poor to own a spit whilst at uni!

I haven't lost the student ability to be always in the mood for a good pi$$ up if that helps
