HI
Ive just sent my form off for clm 2006, now the hard bit , which route to choose??
Last year I went from portsmouth to caen, which was great, I enjoyed the journey as much as the event!
Ideally I'D like to travel down & cross over with as many triumphs as possibble!!
So just wondering which was the most popular route last time??
Last year from shropshire to portsmouth ,didnt see 1 triumph!! (well i was so excited I prob wouldnt have noticed anyway!!)
So come on ppl,reccomend a route ?!
Roy.

Hi Roy
Your first mistake would be starting from Shropshire. However there is plenty of time to move your job, house. family.pets and car to South Yorkshire.
You can then drive down with the seven cars going from here on the afternoon ferry from Portsmouth to Caen. Even better we seem to have five cars from
the North East coming back on the Monday morning with us.
However if your going to be stubbon about this living in Shropshire thing then your still welcome to join us at Portsmouth for the French bit. I think
some of the Southern area cars are crossing with us. Two years ago we used that crossing and it was popular with a range of cars going to Le Mans. We
had a great drive down together that time.See you there.

My favourite route has always been the N138.
But I'm mates with a load of girly tarts who like driving flat out down Autoroutes.
So next year I'm going to wave goodbye to them as we hit France and drive the now hopefully nice and quiet N138 from Rouen on my own......
You can either have a longer drive down from Calais to Rouen, or go Newhaven-Dieppe.
That said there is also a cracking N-Road route that goes west from Alencon towards Caen, via Mont St Michel.
Just don't do motorways, they are BORING!

I looked at Portsmouth - Caen, but have opted for the cheaper Portsmouth to St Malo. I am going out on Wednesday night (sails about 8:30 pm and
arrives about 8:30 am, which is much more relaxing) and coming home again on the Tuesday morning ferry after staying the night in the lovely St
Malo.
Anyone else doing the same, want to meet up? Travelling form North Hampshire/Berkshire border.
Last year I did a 15+ through the night convoy and it was a nightmare, this year i am looking for a much smaller convoy, but I'll get you
there! St Malo to Le Mans about 2 1/2 hours, Caen slightly closer, but not much.
Looking forward to it and seeing Marks Spit creamin' the competition again.
Regards
Mike

Hi
So far we have 2 or 3 cars from South Bucks booked on the 11:30pm ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe on Wednesday 5th July returning 12:30 on
Monday 10th July. Hoping to get a lot more now we are in the new year and can start thinking about this year's events!
Anyone else taking the same route?

The Oxford possee are just about organised. Looks like we'll be joining Mike on the St Malo ferry overnight on 5th July, though we're
returning on the 5.00 p.m. from Caen.

Forgot to mention,
I booked with speedferries.com in december for £50
I have just changed my booking from the wed to the thurs, because of my shift pattern at work.
the price now seems to have gone up to around £88 return! so if your thinking of this crossing, it might be time to
book before it goes up even more!?
Roy.
