I don't think anyone in their right mind would risk the only original survivor of a breed. I know 3B is being restored, but that
has needed major restoration including panelwork, and has lost its lightweight chassis, original 70X, etc. 4B is still painted
mostly in its 1965 paint, and has original decals/stickers etc.All apart from some 2K paint on the top section of the bonnet only,
when it was repaired after a 'slight' coming together with a Ford Transit, apparently! That's when it lost its quick lift brackets
off the front, but that's it, it's 95% as it turned out at 65 Le Mans. I don't want to be the one responsible for losing that (and
neither do my insurance company want me to!). Maybe I should build a 'replica' Le Man and go racing with that? We are more likely
to go racing with the Macau, when we have finished putting it back to 65 specification (complete with the car's original 70X). If
we dinged that it wouldn't be such a nightmare as it's already been painted at least twice in it's lifetime. Perhaps the most
overriding reason to take the Macau out instead of a Le Mans car is that the Macau would run circles around the heavy old endurace
racers, just ask one of the few to have driven both originaly, Fred Nicklin. Hmm, there's a thought...............
