Hi, I have a '73 GT6 fitted with the occasional rear seat (did they call it that because "occasionally" you can have a passenger small enough to fit on
it?)
My question is this; I have an 11 year old son who sits in the back of the car - sideways on - is this legal, I am pretty sure that the car is exempt from
rear seat belts? The V5 just gives the car description, i.e. Body type - Coupe. It does not give the number of seats.
Does anybody know how the law stands on this, strange, seat that isn't really a seat?
Thanks in advance for any replies, Steve.

If she's hot, get rid of whoever is taking up valuable passenger seat space!!!.

She'll be hotter in the front. Open a window; that'll cool her down.

I did post on this subject recently see link below.

My view is yes it is legal to carry someone in the back of a GT6 because it was a factory fit option and therefore the car was "designed" by the
manufacturer to carry a rear passenger.

Think you are right Andy. It says 2+2 on my documents for GT6 that had rear-seat from new

Guys
Just be aware that anyone using ANY seat, which includes the rear occassional seats in a GT6, MUST be able to sit in them correctly. If a
person is to large, or to small for the seat they commit (or the driver may commit) any number of offences.
All club cars are exempt rear seat belts through age, but if they are fitted they must be worn.

Mike
