Ok, this may sound like an odd question!
Basically i have installed new switches in the spitfire for the side and main lights.
At the moment you can turn the main lights on without having to have the side lights on. Is this going to be an MOT issue, or am i safe?
The other switches haven't changed, so the rest of the car should go through an MOT no problem!!

Stuart
I don't think it will make any difference, but it might be worth rining the MOT Station first.

I don't think there's any law which says the sidelights have to come on first.
As far as I am aware, you must show two white lights to the front and two red lights to the rear, and headlights are an additional requirement. As
long as you turn both on when driving, you're legal. If you can turn the sidelights on, without the headlights being on, you should be alright, but
as Mike says the MOT tester will be able to advise you - after all, he's the man with the tickboxes..

I think Colin has hit the nail on the head; I'm sure I've read or heard somewhere that whenever the headlights are on the sidelights should be
on too in case a headlight fails. Some modern cars cater for this by wizzardy electronics which switch on sidelights if the headlamp fails but
the principle is the same. To be certain the MOT tester is the best source of advice, but that's assuming he knows all the regulations too!
