Need a Favor

Last year Carol and I found a resturant a short drive from the fairgrounds. Out the main gate turn right and just a few miles on the right. It's a big place real nice and you can't miss it. If it is still their would someone note its name and if at all possible take a picture and send it to me. I can't say I recommend the food (had a long talk with the owner about that) If you plan to try it take lots of cold hard cash as its not cheap! Dinner for 2 with a couple of drinks was well over 100 pounds. And for those who saw me last year you will note they have no dress code. Thanks: Bill

Navigate us a bit more closely.

If you can go to Google Earth, the Stafford Showground is at 52 degrees 49' 32.38"N 2 deg. 03' 55.13"W.

You bcan probably pick out the restaurant by following the A518 to the northeast.

    John & Chris: From what I remember we were looking for a old pub. We went out the main gate and turned right. The pub we did not find was down the first left. we came back to the main road and I saw the real nice place to eat. It is what I call a old manor house it was a large 2 or 3 story with nice garden out front. Seems they did a lot of weddings as it was the perfect setting. I would not call it a pub. It was up on a hill with a large paved parking area. Big sign on the road. I'm looking for the credit card recpt hopeing it has the name. The owner offered to sell me the place but what would I do with it. Free drinks for all who attend Stafford? They also have a few rooms and I think the sign might have read motel. Chris no hurry and would be verry greatful if you get a picture. I'll try the Google thing when I get back to a high speed connection at work. I also think it was beyound where the free rides turned around as I don't remember seeing it when I took one. Thanks Bill

      I usually come into the Stafford showground from that direction and as i recall its name is Weston Hall, on Weston Bank,
      Stafford Road, Weston, Staffs.
      There also is a pub a bit nearer Weston itself on the same side as Weston Hall, but this is more your traditional english pub and not so grand as a Manor house, besides if you had been charged a 'hundred knicker' for a pub meal then you've definately been taken for a ride.....

        The pub you were looking for when you got lost is the Holly Bush Inn in the village of Salt, turn right out of the showground and take the left turn at the bottom of the hill. We go there on a Sunday for an evening meal after the show most years and it's excellent food and somewhat more reasonably priced than Weston Hall! It's also a rather nice traditionalEnglish country pub with good beer and a nice garden for eating out if the weather is kind.

        Thanks a bunch. Thats the place Weston Hall. Now I also know where that carge on my card came from. The web site is nice but if one takes a picture I will be greatful. Wish I had found the pub as that was one of things we came over to do. If one stops in see if they still want to sell it. Yea like I can afford it. Bill
