Good idea - could be fun but it needs to be against the clock too - maybe the duration of a number from the band? Any suggestions? Cover of Ashford
& Simpson's "Solid as a Rock" perhaps?

The only trouble is that this could promote being "sober"...
I think we need to get Mr Crewes to use his contacts to get a breathaliser - if you fail you get to play... if not its straight to the bar for a couple of pints...
Either that or a bottle of Hoegaarden Grand Cru for all entrants... (mmmm... must get me a couple more bottles of that)

When I was a yoof growing up in South Wales the local council tried to rack down on drink driving - the idea was that they would install breathalisers in the local pubs so you could check to see if you were over the limit before thinking about driving home. Of course the best game in the pub was "Who can get the highest score on the breathaliser!" Didn't take long for them to be removed! -

How can such a competition possible promot being sober, when in order to get a plastic glass you have to get it from the bar and they only come with pints of beer in.
Many years ago I ran a game like that - you had to down the pint in one in order to get the glass...
Of course you could also buy halfs, but then the glass was smaller...-

I envisage profession glass stackers - TSSC areas training months before the event...
Glasses can be collected from around the bar etc...
There's all sorts of dodgy ways to win...
I'm out of the running before its even started... being rather a lightweight drinker...

The beer glass stacking contest between areas was very popular some years ago, when the disco was held in the barn behind the main grandstand. I remember several stacks being built from floor to ceiling, just as the stack was just about finished someone would bowl an empty beer bottle right through the base from about 30yds away.
