There is a way around it, get a policy with an insurer who has the "driving other cars" extension on the policy however you'll find
that quite hard as it's being removed. It only gave Third Party Only cover anyway but was still a monumental pain in the backside from
an admin perspective. The "corrrect" way to do it is to get yourself on the policy that already covers the car.
No insurer is going to cover you for a few days, it simply isn't worth the hassle and the cost - they will have to charge you Insurance
Premium Tax and administer that so they just say no. The theoretical min cost would be about &163;30.
If the car was hired to you then you may be able to add it onto your policy - in other words if you entered into an agreement whereby
you paid something to the owner and you were contractually bound to be liable for any damage then you might be able to get FJ to insure
it - the "hire" needs only be a token. Again the theory is sound but the practice is not so easy - FJ don't HAVE to do it for you and
seems like they won't.
There isn't an easy and cheap way around it - I'm afraid modern insurance solutions are packaged and not easily tailred to real
people's needs, not unless youare prepared to pay through the nose for it
