Help! Accelerator pedal failure

Posted By : Rosalee Brown, 06-Sep-2004, 10:04am

Hi there

Feeling like a bit of an idiot on this one, but my Haynes manual seems to cover everything but. Driving home happily last night I suddenly lost pressure on the accelerator. It has been feeling a bit wobbly recently and I was going to have a look at it anyway. Turns out the cable that attaches to the pedal had come off.
I wedged the end back into the little slot at the top of the pedal and made it another 3 or 4 miles before it came undone again.
There seems to be too much 'give' between the bottom of the yellow cable and the little cylinder that sits on the end of it on a wire. Managed to get it back on again and the rest of the way home (another 2 miles) without another occurence. On closer inspection the whole pedal is very loose and the screw holding it to the floor also seems unstable. So, can I get a new cable/ screw and where from? All the parts listings I've seen seem to cover the bigger stuff only. How much is this going to cost me?
I'm a Triumph newbie, having had the car just a few weeks and I'm worried about making things worse, not better.

Thanks
