After 3 years I finally got the car on the road. We went for a short drive and Sunday just to see how it runs. Its going to take some getting used to
driving an old car again. One thing I've found is that it felt like the steering wanders slightly. The car has alll new bushes, tyres track rod ends and
there is no play in the rack. Is this wanderering normal on the Herald and could it be improved by fitting the poly bushes into the suspension.
Thanks for any advice
Dave

well done for getting the car on the road. Wandering at the wheel could be down to a number of factors; check wheel bearings; tyre pressures; tyre
compounds; front & rear geometry; worn dampers; lower steering u/j; loose wheel nuts! Also the steering rack is best solid clamped to the chassis
with alloy rack clamps to take away any vagueness. Poly bushes will give a more precise location, but it shouldn't wander in standard set up.

My spitfire was wandering a little at high speed last year. Had the tracking checked and it was considerably toe-out rather than slightly toe-in as
it should have been. Got that fixed and it's been spot on ever since.

Dave,
Well done!
Make sure you drag it down to see me won't you. 3 years isn't bad going really, many projects take many years more than that. (mine 8 and
counting)
Vague steering, down to wobbly arms perhaps?
More likely rack or geometry (front or rear) as already mentioned, a Herald should have steering as sharp as a Spitfire.

Dave,
check the plates fitted under the steering rack u bolts are spread fully outwards, tight up to the rubber bushes on the rack securing
clamps.
