I am about to replace my 1200's rear suspension after dismantling/derusting/repainting/rebushing etc. I cannot find any reference to the torque settings on
the UJ-to-Diff bolts. Indeed I remember upon removal of same, I had to use spanners as my socket wouldn't fit (access not size!). Which leads to a general
question about torquing of such important bitsnpieces: if there is no reference torque setting what is the recommended procedure........

Torque setting according to the workshop manual is 24-28lb/ft, but like you I've never managed to get a torque wrench in there so I wind them up as
tight as possible with ring spanners. It's worked well enough on my cars for the last 15 years, so don't worry about it,
Cheers,
Bill.

Bill,
Thanks for info. One good turn deserves another so I promise to have my IVR in the post in the next few days! Maybe such a scheme could be
introduced i.e no tech support without first having completed an IVR!!!!(joke, I think?)
Graham.
