Larry,
AFAIK the only differences between Herald and Vitesse chassis/bodies are the position of the handbrake quadrants, and the wishbone brackets
for Rotaflex. There may be some other differences at the other end to do with the radiator, but simply solved. You may need a different
rear gearbox mount too, but that is always a bolt-on, not a weld on. (When I make bold statements like that, I am often shot down, so
prepare for corrections!)
The Silverback was made from a 13/60 that had a Vitesse mk1 engine fitted (not 1600) when I bought it, but it had a Herald gearbox
(shortened remote, as longer engine) and swing spring drive train.
You should (IMHO) use GT6/Vitesse front uprights, as the Spitfire ones were changed to accomodate the greater engine weight, but I think
you said you have those, and Vitesse/GT6 springs too for the same reason.
Attaching the Rotaflex brackets. You can get new brackets to weld on, but I elected to make bolt on brackets, so I could experiment with
different positions of the wishbone. If you want to go down that route, I'll tell you how.
You could consider staying with a swing spring! Lighter, very effective if lowered, and if you are concerned about half shaft failure,
heavy duty ones are available. That's what the Sb has now. The rest of the transmission is quite strong enough, especially for a road
car.
Best of luck!
John

Thanks John,
I'll get in touch if (when) I run into problems with the rotoflex. I'm looking at other options e.g., I have a Mk11 Vitesse running
chassis with saloon body tub and I may simply transfer the 13/60 convertible body tub onto and the Vitesse running chassis and the
Vitesse saloon tub onto the 13/60 chassis it but I'm trying to keep both cars as original as possible with matching numbers etc.,
Regards,
Larry
