Anything and everything Herald. Talk about anything from the first 948s to the last 13/60s.

Hello everyone,
water gushing from the junction between the water pump housing and the bit where the impellor goes in, have ordered replacement impellor and pulley anyway,
new gaskets all round for impellor to body, body to block and body to thermostat housing. Any top tips before I bolt it all back in?
Feeling all nostalgic tonight; bought a BMH video showing the 1959 launch and pre launch africa crossing. All very Raymond Baxter!
I am almost positive that Bill Davies will reply to this, he seems to reply to everything, so a big thank you to Bill for your enthusiasm towards this
messageboard.
Cheers

I wouldn't want to disappoint you James :-)
What I love about that Herald video is the part where the commentator is extolling the virtues of the new padded seats fitted to the new Herald 1200,
while the seats being assembled are obviously the dreadfully thin 948 types, presumably to be fitted into the Herald 'S' models which are being shown
throughout that section of the video!
As regard the water pump, no real advice except to lightly grease bothe sides of the paper gasket to help locate it upon installation. The whole
procedure is particularly painles, unless of course you're a bit heavy handed with the spanners when removing the fan - very close to the
radiator....
Cheers,
Bill.

Good on you Bill! The video is great, I love the Carry On type music and the Cholmondely-Warner voices ... The launch ceremony is hilarious really
with all the dancing girls and top acts of the day. Great stuff that every Herald owner should try to get to see.
Thanks for the watery advice. Refitting pump today. Will be back on here ( in tears ) if the leak persists.
Best regards
