    Thanks...was just wondering thats all! I dont think it is worn, all the ignition part of the electrics look fairly new to me so should be ok there.

  To get the best out of the new cam/head yes you should fit a dizzy to match the head and cam.
  
  But you can try advancing the original dizzy untill you reach the point were it starts to pink the back it of a small amount. This will give a useful improvement in performance.

    So given the line up of fast road cam and mk4 spit head, what would be ideal?! I'm not entirely sure how they all differ and what makes one better than another, or more suitable to a certain cam!

      Not to sure which engine you propose to fit the cam and head too.
      
      However, the fast road cam will push up the revs and reduce the the low end torque. The head should improve the top end breathing.

        It might be going on an early 1300 (GE). I'm thinking of fitting these while I have the head off changing the piston rings. Planning on renewing the rocker gear and timing chain while I'm at it too.
        As for low end torque, I've never noticed a huge amount being produced by this engine anyway and as I already rev it hard, top end power is my only main objective! Obviously not too much that would sacrifice too much low down torque and make it useless on the road.
