What would be a reasonable price for a 1200 herald saloon, in running order and with MOT but perhaps in need of a fair bit of tidying up?
I am thinking of a vehicle which could be used as a run-around but might well be due for early attention to shocks, trunnions, etc, etc.
Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,
I would look around the &163;600-800 mark, but don't rule out apparent bargains in local free-ad papers, they are still out there. The problem
with mid-range classics in general is for the same money you could end up with a genuine car which just needs TLC, or a complete wreck full of filler,
be very careful in your choice of car.
I'm sure you've already checked out the buyers guides, but just one pointer which has served me well. There is no worse problem you can find than
corrosion of the main chassis rails either side of the diff. Don't underestimate this, it's expensive and awkward to repair, and is a good indicator of
how far gone the rest of the chassis will be.
Cheers,
Bill.

Hi Stephen
I looked at a 1200 sal with a years mot and tax that needed a bit of bodywork and there was a knocking noise from the back. The seller seemed like a
genuine bloke and said that the halfshaft uj's were the problem. the car was on ebay and he had it up sor 750 but the reserve was not met...
There were no bids but I think he wants to get rid of it. The interior was 90% ok.

Might be worth a look.

Thanks for the tip - is the nodding dog an original accessory?
