Hi
I have a 1968 1200 Convertible, which had modern car seats put in. I've now removed them and about to put the correct seats in, however, I am now not too
sure how to fit them! The reason is that I have nothing to fit then onto, all I can see are the 4 holes that have been drilled by the previous ower which
the modern seats were bolted to.
Can anyone shed any light on my problem.
Many thanks
Lisa

Lisa, have your new seats got the sliding mechanisms included? If so it should be fairly obvious where you need to drill the floor, if not then you
need to do a bit of shopping around, they often come up on eBay or I'm sure there are many people in the TSSC will have some old ones lying around (but
not me, sorry)

The original seat fittings bolt down with four bolts, the front ones go right through the floor, and the back two into captive nuts held in metal
cages sitting on the floor. Have a look under the carpets and see if these are stil there. You may have to be a bit creative to get a nut into the
cages if the original nuts are missing, I used Blu tak to hold the nuts in place until the bolts got a hold and secured them. There should also be
a couple of spacers about 10 mm thick, but I can't remember if these go front or back.

The original caged nuts are available, I bought a few at Stoneleigh to replace missing ones. They need to be fitted from below whereas the rear
sliding type fit from inside the car. To be honest I've cheated a few times in the past and replaced the front ones with bolts, and large
washers under the floor to spread the load and also to seal the square hole in the floor - use a bit of sealer round them before fitting and
tightening them.
There is meant to be a spacer but I can't remember if it's front or rear....
