Just in the process of fitting my new carpet to my 1200. The gear stick gaitor is, as expected, perished so I want to replace it. Apart from a replacment
dome type original one, are there any better options about. i.e ones that cover up the unsightly metal stick ?

Hi Jason,
You surprise me in thinking the chromed gearshift unsightly! I have owned a couple of Heralds which have had a leatherette gaiter fitted, very similar
if not exactly the one from a Dolomite. The Triumph 2000 has a similar gaiter arrangement so that might be another source.
I've always reverted to the proper gaiter - I like chrome!
