Following on from my post about the club supplied seat belts. I have had a good look at the naked body shell for possible lower mountings for the seat belt
reel. The area of the panel between the B post and the rear wheel arch ( No 18 in the 'floor pan section' of the Triumph parts book) seems suitable. It is
in one piece with the B post, and is a small panel that will not be prone to flexing. The panel with the white cross in the photo. It is also near to a body
mounting, so the whole area SHOULD be quite strong. The reel would be hidden in the side pocket next to the rear seat, it is directly below the upper
mounting to the rear of the B post, and would mean the reel is clear of passengers feet and would still allow the rear seat to fold down.
The only extra needed would be a substantial 'L' shaped bracket bolted to this panel to allow fitting of the reel.
I know some people have reservations about non-standard mountings on the grounds of safety, but the factory fitted top mount below the side glass, is on a
panel that I can see flexing with only hand pressure applied, and this is a solid panel as well.

While the photo looks excellent, my concern about using that panel is that it rots like B*****y, (especially in convertibles).
Personally I'd try and find some way of bolting it to the B post or the body mounting box section itself (to the right in your picture).
