down-draught carbs
Anything and everything Herald. Talk about anything from the first 948s to the last 13/60s.

In response to my earlier moan, under a slightly more useful title.
I did some looking - web mainly - and found some other motor maker brands who used single choke carbs on more recent products (70's - 90s).
Try : Citroen, Fiat (particularly the small ones), Peugeot, Renault, some Ford. Most of these seem to be size (of the jets I think) 32 - 34. Interestingly,
someone also used to supply the adaptors that Bill Davies is currently working on, for Ford downdraught manifolds.
Hope this helps someone out there,
Matt
PS - I've taken the easy way out - I've bought another (low milage) herald solex and I'm hoping that this one won't leak!

Further to my on-going carburettor obsession. Going on the assumption that early model Cortina and the certainty that Vauxhall Viva carbs will fit a
1200 manifold, try Weber online - something like webcon.co.uk. They seem to do brand spanking new replacement carburettors for both these cars (to
"...replace troublesome originals..." as their blurb puts it!!!) and these for less than what you'd pay to get a solex reconditioned.
A possibility??
Maybe some of the more technically minded out there could enlighten me : )
