Just playing around at the moment with the worn standard single stromberg on my 13/60, which is on its way out and will be replaced by sum nice HS4'S off a
spit soon. Yesterday I decided to experiment by taking the airbox off and covering the inlet of the carb up with sum wire mesh- what an iduction noise! I
love it! It sounds faster even if it isnt! but thats the thing it does seem faster to 60, so I timed it, 16.5 secs instead of 17.7. Can't understand why
this would make such a difference, but also, the top speed has dropped by about 3-5mph, accelerating up to 75 fine, then taking an age to get to 80. Where
abouts in the rev range have I lost/gained marginal amounts of power?
Thanks, Ben, White 68 13/60 conv

For your HS4's you'll want some full radii (I think thats what they're called) ram pipes and some filter socks then Ben... I think we discussed this
before didn't we? Anyway... then you'll have the induction noise from heaven :o)
By affecting your air flow in, you've basically thrown all your tuning off... it's now running lean... if you're getting just over a second quicker
with no filter at all - then just you wait until you have ram pipes and the carbs properly tuned... vrooom vroooom vroooooooooom...! :o)

Thats what I like to hear- vroom vroooooooooom! I did adjust the mixture to run slightly richer, but the needle is so worn it probably didnt make
any difference! The only thing I have noticed is though, its misfiring (I think) if you accelerate hard and stay at a steady high speed, then
burbling down to about 60. It only does it sometimes, but its annoying on a fast corner when you suddenly lose power! Originally this problem was
to do with a rusty petrol tank, no fuel filter and a worn out fuel pump, so getting fuel starvation. I then put in a sediment bowl and a new fuel
pump solving it until now! Nevermind hey, come my birthday I'l get those HS4's like you suggested n get em properly set up :-)
