I have just come across an article in Practical Motorist September 1966 about removing the "drag-producing" headlamp cowlings and replacing them with
home-made aerodynamic (?) heat-softened acrylic headlamp covers. Before I express my opinion, has anyone tried this and been happy with the result? I
should say I do not own a Herald, so do not plan the conversion myself. Just interested.

It would certainly be different, but then it would remove the pure 1960s character of the shiny chrome Herald. They didn't have aerodynamics in those
days, just style.

I agree, what a crime to remove the cowls - they also acted as secondary bumpers, as my brother found out when a Herald ran into the back of his
Vauxhall, the only damage to either car was the two headlamp cowl shaped dimples which were pressed into his boot lid! Improved the look no end!!
