I'm in the process of sorting out my herald's new bonnet, and ultimately every other pannel, and so very soon i'm going to need some paint. my question is
where do I get a colour reference code for the colour Triumph refer to as "wedgewood blue"? Does anybody know a supplier who does this colour?.... My car
seems to be the said colour but I'd love to know if some one knows of a colour chart or a pantone reference or something I could use to check the colour it
is, and the colour it will become... any info appreciated...!
Thanks Nick.

Hi Nick,
The Triumph code of 26 should be recognised by most suppliers, it shows up as an ICI mix in my references. I also have a PPG Ditzler code of 12873
which may be some help. What colour references I have have been passed on to me in the form of a spreadsheet, so I can't guarantee that they are
correct, treat them as a starting point.
In most Triumph literature, the colour is spelt "Wedgwood", however it occasionally gets spelt "Wedgewood". If your supplier has to search through a
database, make sure both spellings are used. The colour is actually well known and was available in aerosol cans from the likes of Halfords about 5
years ago - it may still be in the racks, I can't say I've looked recently! Of course you will be able to obtain cans and touch-ups from any Triumph
specialist, but for a substantial quantity a local paint factor will save a great deal on postage,
Cheers,
Bill.

Nick
Seek out a friendly paint supplier (possibly fewer and further between these days, I use a branch of Brown Brothers) and they should have no trouble at
all mixing up Wedgewood Blue. It will come out a bit bluer than the original as the original paint always seems to fade a bit. Looses a bit of the 'old
feel' to the colour I feel.
I have a delicately faded mk3 spitfire in Wedgewood blue.
So does the TSSC early spitfire registrar Suzie Singleton!

Just like mine!!!

Thanks Colin, that seems to be exactly the colour I'm after from the photo of Suzie's Spitfire, looks just like mine too except mine's a Herald...
with a few wonky bits here and there... same colour though I recon.. which is re-assuring as there are other colours around that are similar it
seems....? so anyway, thanks for your input mate , I'll let you know how I get on..
P.s. I just posted a message to Bill, here-in somewhere, so look out for the poor car, I'll put in some photos soon....
Cheers, Nick

Thanks for the codes Bill, It's not in it's original coat then which was semi-obvious from the photo's I got with it. The paint code on the bulkhead is
54, with an interior code of 11... But the car is wedgewood blue with a cream hood and interior....? I guess the plate on the bulkhead corresponds to
the car the bulkhead belonged to originally... which was at some point sprayed to match the rest of the car.... anyway the little plate might
soon be superceeded by another attached to a practically rust free bulkhead from a car that I rescued from being scrapped about a week and a half ago,
and there's a tale in that.... the said car will be in a tv advert quite soon, but I can't say too much till the ad is aired, or else I may get in to
hot water at work.. safe to say however that if you see a convertible mustard yellow 13/60 on tv at some point soon, and you feel outraged by how it is
being treated, don't worry, it wasn't scrapped after as was planned. I mannaged to get them to deliver it to me, and I then spent a good six hours
pressure steam cleaning it from the inside out, until I found what appears to be a mostly original '71 herald, ... anyway, I'll post a message on a
more general forum with some photos when the stupid ad comes out so others know the poor thing wasn't written off... thanks again for the codes
Bill..
Cheers Nick.

Now you've got us all interested....
What sort of advert?? And what for??
Any clues when it will be aired??
I might need to get all worked up ready to write my 'Indignant of Colchester' letter...

Blimey you were quick with there mate.!.. I really shouldn't say too much for fear of breaking any non disclosure agreements that may have been
signed by my collegues at this point, but I'm sure it will do no harm to say the ad involves the said Herald, top down, being dumped on from a
great height, with much of a certain kind of debris.... I can't mention who commissioned the crime, nor who the production company were who
were kind enough to let me relieve them of a very unfortunate victim of modern advertising, but I will post some pictures after the event is
released, and all will become clear...
Thanks for your response earlier ...

Hi Nick,
You need to take care that your commission plate says what it should, not regarding the colour codes, but the vehicle's commission number should
match what's recorded on your V5 document. While a car of this age can quite legally be MOT'd and used without a commission plate present, I really
wouldn't want to have the wrong one fitted, all kinds of questions could be raised if it ever came to light at an MOT test or a Police check. You
could end up with a Q plate (indicating a vehicle of indefinite origine), or I suppose potentially worse legal questions could be raised.
If the plate is wrong, take it off. If you need a replica with the correct details made then that can be done, but better to be without than to
have the wrong one.
Cheers,
Bill.

Thanks for that Bill, I'll check the commission number against the v5 then, I had no idea there could be such a problem... I'm very glad you
mentioned it as the MOT is just about to come up, and this car and me need all the help we can get ... too many issues to mention...
Cheers, Nick
