I need to tackle some minor surface rust on the bottom edge of my Herald's rear valance. Also extending to the flange where it attaches to the side valance. For the non-visible flange area I thought about applying some of this 'Kurust' solution which does something chemically to the rust making it inert? But for the visible area of the valance I want to rub down the rust before painting. Can anyone tell me, is there a rust-preventing primer I can use on bare metal before application of cellulose paint.

Hi Graham

http://www.frost.co.uk sell a product called POR 15 rust prevention paint. I have used this on 2 vans wheel arches a year ago. Still look go today with no reoccurance of rust showing through. You can't buy this product in shops motor factors have never heard of it. It's American.
