iv got a 1200 , it has a 13/60 in was put in before i got it.
i know nothing about engines, even the idea of a choke is new to me, been explained.
i started my car, runs well but have to leve choke out to keep running, told normal till warm, but is it normal that while running without being driven,
when you take of the air box off it actually blowes puffes out of the hole. also bit of oil in the metal bit with the trumpet bit on. exhust is puff puff
rather than constant to. is this normal?

Sounds like it just needs a service and tune up to get it running smoother. The tapping noise is most likely the tappets (they're meant to tap
slightly, probaly wher the name came from!) but they probably need adjusting which should be done when you have it serviced.

just changed the plugs, started instantly, still jumpy and spluttery, but tappets seem quieter.
so is air pufs out of the carb bit normal?
tune, anyone in cambs can come do it?

Not sure what you mean by 'puffs' from the carb but if it's spitting back then could be a couple of things, either ignition timimg needs
adjusting or your inlet valves are too tight - get it serviced urgently before you cause damege.
