I drained the engine oil and removed the oil filter from my 1966 1200 only to discover the new filter is different.....the filter housings themselves are
the same, but the old filter has a threaded 'stud' attached which screwed out from my engine block upon removal. The new filter doesn't have such a
threaded stud but a 'female' end. Any ideas please.....

Please excuse me if this sounds too simple, but I think you can unscrew the hollow stud from your old filter to clean and fit it to your new one.

Oops! Thanks Andy, you're right.
Sometimes the simplest solutions don't spring instantly to my mechanically inept mind.
Cheers,
Graham.
