Ooooo Adrian! Might yet be tempted, I've always lusted after a 6 pot, just funding always gets in the way as a mere youngster....I'd need all the other bits n pieces you see, like gearbox, springs, hubs, callipers, prop, diff, engine mounts, master cylinder, etc! Have you also got any of these?

OOOO, more shards of metal....that'l be a spun bearing then, beaten into a rather flat shape. Damn you inferior 'County Bearings!' Made a right mess of number 3 con rod...anyone got a spare lying around?!

Hi Ben,
I think you're being a bit rash blaming this on the County bearings. I've never seen a bearing pickup without some underlying cause. The original Vandervell VP2 bearing material is said to be very tolerant of momentary oil starvation, most other bearings will pick-up under oil starvation. That doesn't mean pickup is a fault of the bearings, it means that there is another fault which the bearing is unable to cope with.

Hehe, I know, I blame myself really, nothing is meant to take that much thrashing! Oooops. The other 2 are fine, but one of the others is disintegrating down the middle. So thats the cause is it, oil starvation? When I changed the crank last time, about 15000 miles ago, I was very careful with regards to cleanliness and checked the oil pump wear and it was well within the tolerances in the book. I've stripped the block today, bar the cam and dizzy as swarf from the bearing went everwhere!
So with aparantly good oil pressure before, what could be the cause do you think, partially blocked oil gallery perhaps?
I'm considering getting a new block anyway, due to the bore wear, so this wouldnt be a problem if thats the cause of the oil starvation.
Could this have happened purely because of prelonged extreme rpm?!
