Having just got my cylinder head back from the TSSC, freshly refurbished and hopefully solving my compression problems, it is need of some paint before being put back. The rest of the engine and the cylinder head before going away all seemed to be painted Triumph Cherry Red....however this does not seem to be a common colour for heat proof paint!!!

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get heat proof paint mixed to a specific colour....or does it sound like it was last painted using cellulose...in which case it seemed to last quite well!

Failure to find a nice colour will leave me no option but to go down the dark path....Black!!!

I used MG Maroon (forgive the MG reference but it is better then F*rd!!!!) but not only did it not really match but it also peeled off very easily and bonded itself to the hoses...I don&8217;t think I will be using that again!!!

  Hmmm, I must be doing something wrong. I used an ordinary, boring, blue, smooth Hammerite on my engine. It does exactly what it says on the tin...and hasn't peeled, melted, flaked or come off on my clothes, tools or hoses. The engine has a standard rad, no mechanical fan, an electric fan fitted engine side (sorry, Bill) and runs at what looks, and feels, the correct temperature (halfway up the temp guage) even in the hottest June weather so far. (not counting this week which is cold enough to freeze the watsits of a watsit's watsit).
