Is there a way of visually identifying if a cylinder head has been converted to unleaded?

Hi Steve,
From the outside of the head there is nothing that can say for definate if it has been converted to unleaded. I bought my car ready converted and you
can tell it has been done fairly recently because it has had new core plugs and a new coat of engine enamel.
To check whether it has been done, I think the only definate way is to take the head off and remove a valve (cant remember whether they're installed on
inlet or exhaust valves only), then look for the hardened seat.
Cheers,
Ben

The core plugs have been replaced and the engine has been rebuilt by a previous owner (although he appears to have messed up somehow as the crank
needs a regrind) so there's a good possibilty it's already had an unleaded conversion.
The head is already off so it's no problem removing a valve but how can I tell if it's a hardened seat?
